Lake Raystown Family Camping Resort

Huntingdon, Pennsylvania is home to Lake Raystown Family Camping Resort. This 100-acre campground accommodates tent, RV, or cabin guests. It boasts a catch and released pond, free WiFi, 60 acres worth of walking trails, and free WiFi. There is also a marina and a golf course at the resort. This is the perfect place to bring your dog along if you're traveling with them.

The lake has two public beaches. The Seven Points is the ideal area to enjoy a sandy beach. You can rent a houseboat, or hire a boatman to take out the fisherman. It is home to many museums that offer local history. Hesston Speedway is a great option for those who love racing.

There are many attractions close by, including Trough Creek State Park and Allegrippis Trails. All these are located within a short distance of the campground. The Allegrippis Trails are actually part of Raystown Mountain Bike Skill Park. Although it's a small park, the park offers some the best mountain bike trails throughout the state. Nearby Six Points Ski Area and Mount Hermon Ski Area are great places to explore and play.

The first class campsites at the lake are unmatched in proximity to the water. There are more than 250 campsites spread over 100 acres. Each has all the required amenities, including an electric and fire ring as well as water. They are also near the aforementioned allegrippis: the hiking and biking trails.

The resort does not offer a luxury RV, or a fully-serviced cabin. You can still expect a nice room for your money. Raystown Lake Family Camp Resort has many perks like a catch and release lake, a marina, swimming pools, and pet-friendly rooms. Not to mention that the site is located on a scenic drive through the rolling hills of the Blue Ridge Mountains.

The lake is surrounded by over 21,000 acres of private land. Much of this land is owned by Army Corps of Engineers. You can see that there are many areas that are protected from residential development. This is the paradox of it all. There have been some exceptions, however, including one home that fell on a steep hill without warning. A cool thing about the resort is its dog park. The resort requires that pets be on a six-foot lead outside their vehicle.

Raystown Lake Family Camping Resort offers a lot of fun gimmicks. There are a couple things to consider when you're deciding between this and the other tweeps in the neighborhood, but it's worth a visit, and it's the only one of its kind in the area.
